MAE 460 Space Mission Design is a class offered to Junior and Senior Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering students at the University at Buffalo. The class focuses on designing and presenting a space mission following the NASA handbook Space Mission And Design (SMAD). I worked in a group with 9 other students creating a space mission based on requirements set out by NASA. In this project, my main task was to create a detailed CAD model of our system that reflected the mission requirements determined by myself and other team members.

Station Render

Pictured is a render of the full spacecraft designed for the project. The spacecraft contains three distinct modules that are joined using a docking connector based on international standards, along with a custom service connector.

Station Cross Section

This is a cross section view of the CAD model I made for this project. In the image you can see the internals of the Core Module, along with all the internal volumes required for the mission.

Core Module

The spacecraft designed for this project is constructed of three distinct modules. The central "Core Module" is pictured here, which provides all the necessary services for the other components of the spacecraft. The structural integrity of the module was verified using finite element analysis.
